“We are extremely excited about the Nordstrom acquisition,” said RUESPARI founder Adrienne Marciano. “This wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous loyalty and support of our following and everyone who wears their RUESPARI belts proudly.

“Nordstrom is deeply rooted in customer service and so are we, so I think this is the perfect fit for us,” continued Marciano. “I am very excited for the future of our brand, especially with this partnership.”

If you are an equestrian, then chances are you know that flexible elastic belts have taken the riding industry by storm. The original company that created the flexible belt design with an interlocking clasp is the brand you all know as RUESPARI. This same company, deeply rooted in its dedication to be cruelty-free, would later go on to create another amazing product, The Equestrian Hip Clutch™️.

RUESPARI emerged in the summer of 2016 when Marciano was going to compete her horse in the High Amateur-Owner Jumpers at the famed Devon Horse Show. When she shopped for some new belt options to wear in the iconic Dixon Oval, she couldn’t find what she was looking for.

“I realized that riding clothes had evolved into more functional materials, but riding belts had not,” said Marciano, “so I decided to have some belts made for myself from elastic I had found and some flat interlocking clasps I sourced.”

Not long after that, those first few styles ended up in equestrian retailers across the United States, and RUESPARI was born. Marciano is no stranger to the equestrian world, particularly the show jumping rings and more recently the amateur-owner hunter rings at WEF.

“Her love of accessories is evident by anyone who knows her,” said rider Katie Hogan who, as one of Marciano’s best friends, wore one of the first RUESPARI belts made. “It was only a matter of time before she combined her two passions: her love of animals and her love of fashion.”

Adrienne credits her former employer Tory Burch for a lot of her inspiration. “I absolutely love to create; it is my passion. When I started RUESPARI, we only had a few different styles of belts. It was a very simple idea, but sometimes those are the best ideas. I always had a much bigger plan for this company.”

As RUESPARI gained notoriety in the equestrian industry, the brand became recognized in the mainstream realm so much that it caught the attention of the accessories buyer at Nordstrom. Marciano’s long-term plan for the company was always to enter an upscale department store.

She explained, “I built my entire business model around the day that we would be acquired by Nordstrom. Over the years I sacrificed some smaller boutique retailer acquisitions because I was always concerned about our brand image. My long-term goal was more important than instant gratification.

“The more I immersed myself in the design process, the more creative I became with the art of design, and new products emerged as a result,” she continued. “Now we offer an array of cruelty-free products.”
