Online Entries See Major Increase at The Hampton Classic, WIHS, and PA National

Menlo Park, CA – December 9, 2013 – Equestrian Connect, the one-minute horse show entry service, is quickly becoming the best way for equestrians to submit their online entries. Top horsemen from around the country have been going to Equestrian Connect to save time and keep their information organized. Are you one of the many who still takes hours handwriting entry blanks? Brett Waters quoteIn 2013, exhibitors have significantly increased their usage of Equestrian Connect’s entry service, particularly in submitting entries electronically. Equestrian Connect posts entry forms at more than 800 USEF “A/AA” rated shows across the country and more than 30 in Canada, making Equestrian Connect readily available. Approximately 300 of those shows accept entries electronically. Equestrian Connect saw a 30% increase nationally in entries submitted electronically in 2013, with over 26,000 entries created in total, and 15,000 submitted electronically.

One of the shows that moved to electronic acceptance for entries this year was the prestigious Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), which had 20% of their entries submitted electronically. Brett Waters, secretary at WIHS as well as The Devon Horse Show, Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show, and Vermont Summer Festival, said, “Electronic submissions were perfect. I wish that everyone would have used it. The entries get to us quickly and on time. Exhibitors also don’t have to pay for certified mail.”

Sending electronically also gives Equestrian Connect users peace of mind that their entries arrived on time. They receive an email acnowledging that entries have been received, which saves them time calling the horse show office.

Waters has been receiving Equestrian Connect entries for the past few years. “It’s so much more efficient to use an Equestrian Connect entry blank than a regular one. Everything is typed out and in the right place. There is no question, it’s just there. We can just input and move on to the next one. It’s legible, and it takes a quarter of the time to input,” she explained.Annette_Longnecker_pic AK Dragoo lo

Annette Longenecker (right) of Ryegate Show Services also recognizes what Equestrian Connect can do for exhibitors. “What Equestrian Connect has done is allow the show and the exhibitor to function in the normal procedure, but give exhibitors a time-saving feature and the flexibility of the show to use the service as best fits their needs,” she said.

In the second year that electronic entries have been accepted at The Hampton Classic Horse Show, there has been a 30% increase in electronic submissions. This year, the show received 350 entries through Equestrian Connect, which is 20% of the show’s total entries. This is the third year that Equestrian Connect has been the official entry partner of the Hampton Classic.

Ali Sweetnam, who runs Sweet Oak Farm with her husband, top international show jumper Shane Sweetnam, in Wellington, Florida, has started using Equestrian Connect to send in her entries electronically.

Sweetnam used Equestrian Connect for her electronic entries at such events as The Devon Horse Show, PA National, and WIHS. “I liked using it for indoors,” she confirmed. “I was a little nervous how it would work since that was new. I just clicked the button to submit my entries electronically. Then I emailed the show secretary to make sure they received them, and they all got my entries right away and got them on time. For shows that are very time-sensitive, like Capital Challenge, they got them immediately. That’s very important to me. I’d be very sad to not have that service anymore!”Ali Sweetnam quote

With up to 50 horses showing in the winter, 30-35 entries at most shows, and six to ten at the indoor finals, Sweetnam has to be extremely organized. “Once you input the data for your horses, anytime you want to enter any horse show, you just click four buttons and it enters it completely,” she explained. “It’s totally reliable, and the fee for it is so small. It saves so much time. If I had to fill out an entry blank for each horse at each show by hand, it would take two minutes each. On Equestrian Connect it takes about five seconds.”

She has used Equestrian Connect for two years and says that it has “probably saved me days of time over the long run!”

Valerie Renihan of Findlay’s Ridge, which is based in North Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL, agreed that sending in her entries electronically this year for the PA National and WIHS was easy and worry-free. “Usually you have to go to the post office and do Val Renihan quotea return receipt or get tracking through FedEx for entries. This is so nice that you just click to send, and they send a note back that they received it. It was super convenient for indoors this year,” she said. “I highly recommend it.”

Handling show entries for 30-40 horses is an exercise in organization, and it’s one Chrissie Kear has streamlined with Equestrian Connect. As a trainer and manager at Ashland Farms in Wellington, FL, Kear started using Equestrian Connect two years ago to electronically submit entries at the Hampton Classic Horse Show.

It’s unbelievable how easy it can be,” she remarked. “As I feel more comfortable using it and more shows start accepting them, I will use it more and more.”

By saving horse and rider details on Equestrian Connect, riders, trainers, and barn managers can easily fill out entries for horse shows. Streamlining the horse show entry process is what Equestrian Connect does best – no matter who fills out the forms, they arrive at the horse show neatly typed, legible, and with full information. Equestrian Connect’s web-based entry service works with PCs, Macs, and iPhones, can produce printable entries for any horse show, and eliminates the need for trainers and exhibitors having to mail entries to the show office or FedEx them at the last minute.Chrissie Kear quote
